We were a newly established kennel in Mackay, Queensland. In June 2015, we have relocated to our 100 acre property at Warwick. We have had shepherds most of our life. Our involvement began in dog obedience in 1984, but it has only been since returning from Western Queensland, that we have become involved in showing and breeding. We will be forever grateful to 'Debbar Kennels' for our foundation dogs, their support, guidance and continual encouragement.
As a baby I was brought up with a magnificent shepherd 'Dalkarna Danny' , who was a gentle giant. However, much later in life, after I met my husband, we began obedience and doing demonstration work promoting the breed for GSDCV at shopping centres & events with our purebred 'Shoe '. Our next dogs, were from 'Roadsend Kennels' in Victoria, and a great partnership was forged - 'Roadsend Society Girl' CDX, her son 'Roadsend Eldoraldo' CDX, UD & 'Roadsend Liquid Fire' CD. Somewhere during this time, we began our human family and as the boys grew up, we could always locate them on the acreage - as the dogs didn't play hide'n'seek from mum & dad as well as the kids did!
In 2009 we returned to the Coast, and contacted several kennels throughout Australia searching for our new four legged companion. This began our show ring experience with 'CH Debbar Storm' AZ who has surpassed all that we could ask. We began learning together how to compete in conformation and within 2.5 years Storm had won 3x Best in Shows & 1x R/Up in Show. Later in 2010 his half sister, Nikki, 'CH Debbar Ultra Magic' AZ joined our family. She too has won many Best In Groups & on occasions beat her half brother. In 2012, we campaigned for Debbar Kennels, 'Debbar Viva AZ' for her Australian Championship and in her first weekend with us, achieved Best in Group; showcasing the wonderful type and temperament of Debbar dogs. In 2013, Nikki had her first litter under the Debbar Kennel prefix. In 2014 we campaigned Pip, 'Debbar Y Knot AZ' . Following in her mother's footsteps, Pip took her first Group win, and is now titled too.
Nikki and Storm have both proven themselves in the show ring and are just starting obedience training for Rallyo & Agility. Since moving to Warwick they will try their paws at Herding too. Storm achieving 3 BEST IN SHOW & 1 RUNNER UP IN SHOW during his show career. Their excellent temperament and sound character has made this transition from showing to obedience seamless.
Our love for this wonderful breed continues as we welcomed Ruby, 'Astasia Nadia' as an 8wk old puppy. What an exciting but short journey it was. RUNNER UP IN SHOW at Sarina Kennel Club under Mr A Bradshaw(NZ) at 8 1/2 months old and gaining Ruby's Australian CHAMPIONSHIP title at < 9 months of age!! One of the youngest to achieve her title at such a young age. Also 4th Minor Puppy in speciality @ GSDCQ State Breed Evaluation; Brisbane 2014. Sadly, we lost Ruby suddenly in March 2015 - she was one very special puppy.
July 2015 saw the arrival of. 'Ambala Funky Whispers' and she has not failed to keep us on our toes. She gained her Australian Title quickly but her dislike of the showring meant she became a favourite "mummy's girl" constantly being by our side and doing whatever we are doing. Ruma is a fabulous ambassador for the breed. She doesn't have a nasty bone in her body, and enjoys playing with dogs and all animals of any size.
Early in 2020 saw the arrival of a wild child, "Bluemax Magic Mia". Magic has not been shown much, due to Covid 19, but she has proven herself winning Baby Puppy In Show at Qld Pacific international Show from many high calibre puppies. Magic is definitely going to keep up on our toes and one to watch.
